Notable for manufacturing a wide array of American-made instruments for various brands, Oscar Schmidt made instruments from pre-1939 are sought after for their place in the history of early 20th century instrument making.

This particular example dates to the late 1920s, and is a short scale Koa-made concert with immense tonal character and exceptional playability. These examples utilised ladder bracing, contributing to its unique sound. Hardware and finish appears to be correct, with the noteworthy replacements being the bridge and an added strap pin. This example features a soundhole label and sticker on the headstock showcasing Suttons, a music store right here in Melbourne that presumably imported and sold the guitar at the time.

This one has settled in beautifully, delivering a sound that defies its small stature. Currently tuned to D standard, it resonates incredibly and is so much fun to play with a nice exaggerated V-neck profile. Hardware is fully functional, and plays well with a low medium action. Includes a ply hard case.
