A gorgeous parlour from the early '60s!
Kay were well known through the earlier half of the 20th century for producing both affordable department store instruments alongside some higher end pieces. Adopting the 'Old Kraftsman' moniker, these instruments were sold in Spiegel department stores at the time. This particular example is essentially a Kay K1160 with a different name on the headstock.
Bolt-on neck construction and a beautifully light and compact parlour shape, this thing delivers on that percussive, boxy woodiness one expects from these budget parlours of the time. Cosmetic condition is quite reasonable for its age with expected checking, scratches and dings. The only substantial wear is on the bass side upper bout with a slight gouge.
Frets and playability are great all the way up to the 15th and 16th fret, where theres some rattle.
Hardware is fully functional, and plays with a low medium action. Includes a gorgeous period-correct case.
