A beautiful, player-grade instrument from the Bossa Nova icon, Di Giorgio!

Since Romeo Di Giorgio immigrated to São Paulo, Brazil and opened his own guitar making factory in 1908, Di Giorgio have been making world-class classical guitars ever since and became icons of the Bossa Nova era of the 1960s and MPB (Brazilian Popular Music). Played by artists such as Baden Powell, João Gilberto, Rosinha de Valença, Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben Jor, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and many more. Higher-end Serie Artistica Di Giorgio models from the 1960s and '70s can command prices well into five figures.

This particular guitar is the 'Classico' No. 28 model, a mid-range factory-made instrument hailing from 1977 and features a solid spruce top, absolutely stunning bookmatched laminate Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and a polyurethane finish.

This example has seen a few repairs, including a headstock/neck break repair, which can be seen in a few areas, including through the front veneer of the headstock, however it has all been glued and is currently stable. There is also some clear bellying of the spruce top, which isn't currently affecting playability in any major way, something seen commonly with old, solid-top classical guitars.

Overall, the guitar plays well with a medium classical action, and features the classic, sweet, mellow Bossa Nova sound Di Giorgio is famous for. Chris our founder loves these guitars, even when they're a little rough around the edges!

Included is a polyfoam soft case.
