1996 Fender Japan TN-72 Thinline '72 Reissue Telecaster Ash
1996 Fender Japan TN-72 Thinline '72 Reissue Telecaster Ash
A great playing 'MIJ' Tele Thinline with some choice upgrades.
This particular example dates to 1996 (carries the V +6 digit serial), and is spec'd after the Thinline Telecaster released in 1972. These feature an ash body and maple neck with gloss finish, 7.25" radius neck, and a beautiful sounding pair of Fender wide range humbuckers. This example retains the original body and neck, pickups, what appears to be two of the pots and switch, as well as the tuners.
At some stage, this example has been rewired to employ a VVTT control scheme with a master volume control, as well as being routed to move the three-way selector switch closer to the lower bout. It has had a Bigsby installed, with the original string through string route on the back of the body now being plugged with wooden inserts. Pickguard appears to be non-original strap pins, new single-ply pickguard, and a grill-cloth fabric insert in the f-hole.
Sounds fantastic, and the new wiring scheme allows for more tonal control between both pickups! Cosmetically it's in reasonable condition, with some minor dings present throughout, primarily on the body.
Hardware is fully functional, and plays well with a low action. Includes an aftermarket gig bag.
