Coming from Epiphone's successful 'Inspired by Gibson' collection, the 1961 Les Paul SG Standard carries a range of high end appointments with the intention of capturing some of the magic of first year SGs!
Featuring a two-piece Mahogany body construction in tandem with a Mahogany neck and Laurel fretboard, this example is lightweight and quite well balanced! This particular Laurel fretboard, although light, has some nice grain to it! To round out the already solid construction, Epiphone fitted these models out with the excellent sounding Gibson Burstbucker 2 and 3 pickups, in tandem with high end electronics from CTS, Switchcraft, and Mallory. This particular example has had the original tuners replaced for a set of Gotoh locking tuners, with the originals included in the case!
Neck profile was advertised as a medium 'C' on these models, however this particular neck feels like a D with more pronounced shoulders, especially on the bass side. Sounds and feels incredible, with a pronounced and articulate tone.
Cosmetic condition is near flawless with little to no scratches or dings on the body. Some minor swirl and pick marks are present on the pickguard, which is pretty common to see.
Hardware is fully functional, and plays excellently with a low-medium action. Includes the original Lifton-inspired hardcase.
