The 1483 was introduced into the Sears catalogue sometime around 1963 as a 23-watt bass amplifier with an additional 15" matching cabinet. However this model, like many advertised bass amps of the time, quickly found favour with guitar players. A notable user of this particular model is Peter Buck of REM phase. One of these have also showed up with Vampire Weekend, for a more contemporary example.
It appears to have had some tubes replaced with USSR era aftermarket replacements. What appears to be the original parts look like it dates to around 1965. Also it seems to have been re-tolexed at some point in its life.
