A teardrop guitar, but not a Vox?
Manufactured by Veneman Music, a music retail front established by Dutch immigrant Koob Veneman, Kapa manufactured a wide variety of US built instruments throughout the '60s. Capitalising on some of the designs emerging from the British Invasion, the Minstrel looks an awful lot like a Vox Mark III.
These later '60s examples reputably used some Japanese parts to keep costs down, with the majority of assembling taking place in the US. This seems most apparent in the pickups, which look a lot like what Teisco was manufacturing last time.
Plugged in it sounds super funky with all kinds of phasing switches. Lots of mid and high end, but really quite useable! Typical for this later '60s period, this example features a nice slim neck. The tremolo arm plastic is non-original and the bridge/bridge saddles may possibly be not original, however everything else looks spot on for this model.
Hardware is fully functional, and plays excellently with a low action. Includes an aftermarket hard case.
