1990s Fender Japan ST-54 Stratocaster Seafoam Green
$1,250.00
A little harder to find than the ST-57, the ST-54 was Fenders interpretation of the specifications of first year Stratocasters!
In contrast to the ST-57, the most notable differences the ST-54 possess include a 'V' shape neck profile as well as a round string tree. This particular example has had its serial removed off the back of the neck, making it a bit tricky to nail down a year or period. Most likely from the 1990s, this example based off the STD-54 stamp in the neck pocket was more than likely one of the cheaper models in the catalogue with the wood grain appearing to show basswood. A look within cavities not exposed to as much light or oxygen reveals spots of sonic blue, leading us to believe this was originally refinished in sonic blue and has faded into a seafoam green. This particular example appears to retain its original bridge, string tree, as well as possibly the tuners. The pickguard and plastics are replacements as appears to be the strap pins. The internal electronics show Alpha mini pots as well as alnico pickups. Otherwise, a great player with a lovely sound!
Cosmetic condition is fair for its age showing present play wear, refinishing, as well as a pain patch job at the base of the guitar near the bottom strap pin. Hardware is fully functional, and plays with a low-medium action. Includes an aftermarket hardcase.
