Duesenberg Starplayer TV Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar, Black (Ex-Demo)

The Starplayer TV is Duesenberg’s flagship and best-selling guitar, and a regular sight on stages and in studios around the world. This one is an ex-demo example in gloss Black from the generation before the 2026 refresh. It has spent its time as a demo guitar and is in excellent, near-mint condition. It comes in a good quality padded Rockbag gig bag instead of the original Duesenberg Custom Line hardcase, and it’s priced to reflect that.

Construction

The Starplayer TV is a semi-hollow with a centre sustain block. You get the open, lively response of a hollow body, while the block keeps feedback in check at volume and adds sustain. The arched top is laminated spruce over an arched, laminated flamed maple back, with bent sides and cream binding. On the back, the flamed maple figure shows through the translucent black finish. The set neck is a single piece of maple with a comfortable Medium D profile, an Indian rosewood fingerboard with a 12" radius, and 22 jumbo frets.

The 25.5" scale length is a little longer than most semi-hollows. It gives the guitar a firmer feel under the fingers, a tighter low end and more snap in the attack. Every Duesenberg neck is Plek processed and then hand-finished, so the action can sit low without fret buzz.

Pickups and Wiring

A Duesenberg Domino P90 sits in the neck position with a GrandVintage humbucker at the bridge. The P90 is warm and round for chords and bluesy lead lines. The GrandVintage is a classically voiced PAF-style humbucker with plenty of clarity. The middle position on the 3-way switch uses Duesenberg’s custom wiring, which trims some low end from the humbucker. The result is an airy, open sound that works well for funk, clean rhythm and anything that needs to sit neatly in a mix.

Hardware

The Duesenberg Diamond Deluxe Tremola is lightweight and runs on needle and nylon bearings, so it feels smooth and responsive and holds its tuning well. The arm rotates a full 360° and can be set to your preferred angle and length. Restringing is simple: the strings feed through the bar under the arm axis and straight up to the tuners. Duesenberg Z-Tuners let you tuck the string ends inside the tuner shaft, so there are no sharp ends to catch your fingers or your gig bag. Hardware is finished in nickel, which has a warmer sheen than chrome and ages naturally over time.
